How you can help

You can help us ensure the long-term survival of bears in Slovakia in the following ways:

Make a donation

You can either arrange a bank transfer to our account at the address shown below (please mark the transaction "BEARS Project donation") or make an online donation through our partner, the Wolves and Humans Foundation. WAH is a registered charity in the United Kingdom, so if you are a UK taxpayer there are several ways to make your donation go further, including by using Gift Aid. Please remember to notify the Wolves and Humans Foundation that your donation is for the BEARS Project.

Volunteer

  • Carry out fieldwork on bear ecology and monitoring bear-human conflicts.
  • Join in at our Bear Camp and other outdoor activities for children and youth.
  • Distribute our educational and publicity materials.
  • Help with translating English-Slovak articles and documents.
  • Contact us for details.

    Report your observations

Contribute to current knowledge of bear distribution and movements in Slovakia. If you see a bear or signs of bear presence, tell us about it in as much detail as possible, including at least when, where and what were the circumstances. You can also send your photographs or video. We are also interested in articles about bears in the press, so let us know if you see something on television, in a newspaper or on the internet. If possible, send us the whole article and don't forget to mention the source and date.

    Spread the word

Learn as much as you can about bears and how to keep them out of conflict with people. Pass on your knowledge to others. Some of our educational materials might help.
